He Guan said, “Uncle Yue, are you physically strong? There might be some commotion during the press conference later, and I would appreciate it if you could escort me out. I am a bit frail, so it might get a bit troublesome to leave here.”

He Guan had been exhausted the day before, and although he felt slightly better today, his body still felt somewhat sore.

Hearing that, Uncle Yue said, “Okay, no problem.”

He Guan responded, “Good.”

He Guan made it to the press conference as promised. Compared to the other four members of the band, he was half a minute late.

Under the flashing lights of hundreds of cameras, He Guan radiated a handsome smile. He was impeccably dressed in a custom white suit and black shoes.

His seat was the fourth individual sofa, to his left was Tong Jia Qi, and to his right were, Wen Mo, Jin Jue, and Gan Qing. It seemed the seating was arranged by age.

Naturally, the conference’s host noticed his arrival and jokingly asked, “Our He Guan is fashionably late. Might we ask the reason??”

He Guan crossed his legs and leaned back while answering, “Of course. This morning, I instinctively went to make breakfast. Only after I finished did the team leader come out of his room to tell me that he had already prepared it…”

“After pulling a prank on me, the leader quickly got dressed, and left for this press conference and I had to quickly scramble to catch up.”

After speaking, He Guan didn’t apologize for being late.

At that moment, many reporters were still adjusting their equipment, and the press conference would officially start in five minutes.

Hearing He Gaun’s response, the cameras quickly turned to Gan Qing.

Gan Qing sat upright in his seat, and upon hearing He Guan’s comment, he lowered his head and smiled— a kind, gentle, flawless grin that rivaled the brightness of the light bulbs.

“Yes, he has always been one to oversleep. It’s rare for him to wake up early, and even then, he still managed to arrive here late.”

Wen Mo chimed in with warmth, “Ah, our little Guan is good.”

Hearing the comment, everyone in the room laughed good-naturedly. The host smoothly transitioned past the minor incident caused by He Guan.

The press conference officially began five minutes later.

Each member of the band shared their feelings on the group’s debut, mostly expressing their gratitude towards the agency, teammates, and fans.

He Guan’s gaze swept the room. He finally spotted Uncle Yue trying to squeeze in the front of the crowd.

Soon, it was He Guan’s turn to speak.

He Guan retrieved an eight-carat diamond ring from his pocket and quickly slipped it on. Then he picked up the microphone while smiling cheerfully at the camera.

“Ah, so it’s like that, I’m not going to make a debut with the group.”

Silence filled the room for three seconds.

Hearing He Gaun’s words, Gan Qing tightly gripped the armrest of the sofa in disbelief.

“What?!”

He never expected it to be this soon!

Even Tong Jia Qi was taken aback.

Jin Jue frowned and couldn’t help but ask, “Has he lost his mind?”

Wen Mo twirled a strand of his hair, and his usually listless eyes suddenly brightened, “… Interesting.”

In the next moment, the sound of camera shutters was deafening, all focused towards He Guan.

He Guan rose from the single-seat sofa and while facing the main camera, he showed off his ring.

“As you can see, I’m married. And I deeply care about my partner’s feelings.”

He Guan’s voice was soft and affectionate, and his handsome face looked brilliant under the lens.

He added with a smile, “I have spent months practicing for the debut of our group. But I know being a star after getting married would be deceitful, right?!”

“So, about the official debut of the band…”

He Guan paused and slowly added, “Sorry, I’m out.”

After He Guan finished speaking, he dropped the microphone and without having any regard for his teammates’ reactions, he vaulted over the stage into the crowd.

Seeing that, Uncle Yue reacted swiftly. He hurriedly pushed through the crowd with one hand and reached out for He Guan’s extended hand with the other.

The two quickly squeezed through densely packed photographers into the backstage passage.

He Guan knew Gan Qing was waiting for an explanation, and judging by the frantic snapping of the photographers, he could guess the look on Gan Qing’s face— a mix of confusion that quickly turned into anger.

Yet from beginning to end, He Guan never looked back.

On the road, He Guan directly changed out of his suit jacket and slipped into a cab that had been waiting at the company’s back door to change his trousers.

As He Guan changed his clothes, he said, “This outfit is custom-made by the brand sponsor, I need to return it. Uncle Yue, if the paparazzi try to snap photos, snatch their cameras and toss them into the bushes.”

“Driver, if they block us, just drive forward. They fear death, so they won’t stop you. After leaving the crowd, head to the Bay Bridge and then to Hongqiao District.”

He Guan’s thinking was sharp, he spoke rapidly and quickly deployed his team in half a minute, all while changing into a sweater that Uncle Yue had bought in advance.

Hearing his command, Uncle Yue and the driver responded, “Understood.”
